HOW DO YOU BUILD A NEW LIFE?
When Holocaust survivors arrived in Canada, they realized that starting again did not erase the life that they had before. Survivors carried their trauma throughout their lives, while facing new challenges in Canada. They experienced distrust from other Canadians, as well as antisemitism and discrimination. Many of them also had to learn a new language and a new way of life as they built their new identity as Canadians.

They worked hard to build thriving businesses and careers. They made new friends, married, and had children. They created new social circles filled with love. But for all their triumphs, they were forever affected by the traumas of their past and the challenges of their present.
